On Edge

This set was created with Rihanna in mind. It just reminds of her oh so edgy style that I love! To get this look, you need to first find a skirt that is right for you. You can go mini, knee-length or midi, depending on your preference and body shape. I decided on a red patent leather pencil skirt by Valentino. Next find a bustier that you love. The Chromat one featured here happens to be a bodysuit which helps control bunching, etc. A statement necklace works wonders with a strapless top such as this as well! In true Rihanna style, I had to add a pair of killer shoes by Isabel Marant and designer bag by Miu Miu. Throw a matching fur on top to keep your shoulders warm as you head out and you are ready for the to be the Queen of the night! Read on to shop the pieces!!!

A-Maze-Ing

Maze-like patterns such as the one featured on this Milly dress from Stylebop.com were definitely a hot trend this year. Say “Farewell” to Summer with this bold geometric print. Match it with other geometric patterns such as with the square and round shapes of this Chloe bag and bangles. Matching Jessica Simpson sandals complete this “end of Summer” look. A cardigan is suggested for those cool September nights. Read on to shop the pieces!!!

In Contrast

Blue and orange are opposite each other on the color wheel and are great contrasting colors to pair together. Although this contrast is admittedly a bit over-used, you can refresh this color scheme by color blocking with a neutral color and adding metallic embellishments to the ensemble. Match a gold cuff around the wrist with heels that feature a gold ankle-strap such as the ones shown here.

I originally placed a gold necklace in this set but I decided to do away with the piece. I always try to follow Mademoiselle’s rule: Before you leave the house, look in the mirror and remove one accessory (Coco Chanel). Remember, for the most part less is more when dressing to be chic. You never want to look overdone or like you are trying to hard. Read on to shop the pieces!!!

Cute As Can Bey

19 Feb

This sequin top and skirt set by Marc Jacobs is to die for! It makes me think of Beyonce and her “BeyHive” and I so wish Beyonce would have worn it instead of Alicia Keys. It just seems so fitting. Anyhow, I love the pieces and would wear them separately but you could definitely rock them together as Alicia and the Net-A-Porter model have done. You can even cut and hem it above the last line of sequins and wear it a bit tighter as Alicia’s stylist has tailored hers if you’re feeling really sexy!  With all those sequins, there’s really no need for many accessories. The colors also fall into the Pantone guidelines of what is “in” for 2013. Read on to shop the pieces!!

Stars in Stripes

18 Feb

Stars have been hitting the stage, red carpet, and street in glorious horizontal, vertical, and even chevron stripes which is trending at the moment. One look that thoroughly impressed me was Miguel’s Grammy 2013 look. The jacket is amazing and would be a great addition to anyone’s wardrobe. Instead of a plain white poplin button up, try a red one or even black as with Miguel’s fit. Pair yours with a bow-tie to complete the look! Here’s how you can get the look yourself.
